Who invented the telescope ? Most people are under the impression that Galileo did.
Galileo is not who invented the telescope. It is easy to understand how Galileo is mistaken giving credit for the telescope sense he has invented so much such as the microscope, thermometer and even a potato picker.
Hans Lippershey, a Dutch eyeglass maker did not actually invent the telescope as we see it now. However he is credited with the invention because the device he did make was using two glass lenses in a tube to magnify different objects and patented his invention. Although he did try to keep it a secret Galileo Galilei heard about this device and began constructing telescopes himself before actually ever seing one. Galileo had the idea to turn the telescope to the stars. He discovered the four largest moons of Jupiter.
While Galileo is given mistaken credit for the invention of the telescope, he was the inventor of many other discoveries such as the microscope, thermometer, and even a potato picker!
