Orion telescopes is a very well known and respected company.
Their telescopes and binoculars are of high quality, ranging in price. Orion telescopes & binoculars were established in 1975 in North America . They are known for their mail order catalog that they gladly mail to you for free.
When looking at orion telescopes there are 3 different user levels. Level 1 being simplest level 2 intermediate and level 3 advanced.
The simple line includes telescopes like the transporter, observer and space probe. The transporter is a cool little telescope. The 70mm mini-EQ refractor is great for kids or traveling. It ships with a “tabletop” equatorial mount that can be placed on almost anything, car, rock, table..etc.
The Orion telescopes in the intermediate level are around 200 dollars. One of the telescopes in this section is the ShortTube 4.5 EQ Reflector. This 4.5 Newtonian reflector is very popular due to a decent size and pricing. They improved the focal length 1000, f/8,8 in the 18” tube by adding a corrector lens into the focuser. The EQ-1 rquatrial mount has cast-metal tube rings with quick-release clamps. It also featuers a dual motion controls.
Orion’s advanced telescopes. These are the big guys. Very nice telescopes hosting a variety of the best features. A personally favorite is the Skyview Pro 3.6 Clear-Aperture EQ Reflector. This telescope has amazing image quality. The contrast and sharpness is stunning. The way this telescope achieves such good contrast is by positioning the secondary mirror completely outside the incoming light path. This is a very good telescope and a great price.
