The maksutov telescope is very similar to the Schmidt-cassegrain. The way a maksutov telescope works is light enters through the concave side on the corrector plate. The primary mirror then reflects the light back up the tube to a mirrored spot on the concave side of the corrector plate | |
Because the corrector plate is so think on these. You will find that a maksutov is a lot heavier than a Schmidt cassegrain.
