Is rcx400 better than lx200?
Is rcx400 better than lx200? Well right off the bat you will find the rcx400 is a lot easier to use than the lx200.
The optics for visual use, are excellent on the rcx400 where as the lx200’s imagery is lacking, specially when used with a CCD camera. Set-ups are much faster, the built in precisions focuser and built in adjustable dew heater is extremely useful on the rcx400.
When determining; is rcx400 better than lx200 you have to consider durability. The rcx400 relies heavily on electronics where as the lx200 does not. The mounts of these telescopes are basically the same Both telescopes are very well capable imaging platforms. The RCX is made to make imaging a lot easier. The 10 lx200 photos I have seen have been substantially less impressive than RCX equivalents.The lx200 disassembly is fairly straight forward as with the rcx400’s.
In conclusion is rcx400 better than lx200? Yes I would say it is. Weight of rcx400 is fairly heavy but compared with the lx200 it is barely a noticeable different. I favor the rcx400 because of the better optics, and the electronics that help with ease of
