computer telescope

A computer telescope can be a great entry level telescope. meade makes a large line of computrized scopes called the autostar.

A computer telescope is refered to as a "GOTO" telescope.

It is a computer controlled telescope mount some with a gps. A hand held controller you peruse to an object you would like to see.  With a 4 speed motor the mount rotates to where it thinks the object is. Even with lining it up before using it isn’t even close to 100% perfect more like 70-80% and in the 90’s on a good night..

Wireless or plugged in.  The telescopes can be powered by several different power sources. The 3 different way it may be powered is by batteries, normal power cord or with the car adapter. The telescope can continue powered to up to 20 hours with batteries so I would recommend buying some rechargeable batteries. The power cords are relatively long the car adapter cord being 30 feet. Although the “go to” feature is fun and easy. For the novice I wouldn’t advise one. You should first start by learning how to locate objects on your own or you can become puzzled when the “go to” telescope doesn’t discover its mark dead on.
