The sun is what makes life possible on our planet.
All planets in our solar system are in its orbit. The sun contains 98% of the entire mass of our solar system. It is a medium sized star and other wise known as a yellow dwarf.
Most people think of the sun as if it is on fire. It actually is not, it glows. It is glowing because there is a nuclear reaction in the center. Think of the glowing as
if you were looking at the elements in your oven. It glows hot red but is not on fire. The sun contains lots of gas. It is always busy turning a gas called hydrogen into helium. You know helium right? It is what makes balloons rise.
The center of the sun moves lots of these gases up and down in a circular deep into the sun and than back out again. This is what makes the sun a giant magnet and making those cool solar flares, which are large streams of the gases being pushed into the sun’s atmosphere.
